Did you know that Manchester International Festival are recruiting volunteers for this years event?

Would you like to be a part of one of the world’s most dynamic and adventurous cultural festivals?
MIF couldn’t run without the dedication, energy and enthusiasm of many amazing volunteers.
MIF19 saw 507 volunteers get involved, from helping out with preparations to greeting the public at events. Our diverse and supportive community of volunteers are one of our greatest assets – passionate about the arts, the Festival and our city.
Why volunteer?
Volunteering is a great way to connect with the Festival and the city. Whether you are looking for an opportunity to get behind the scenes of the Festival, meet an amazing group of people, gain customer service skills for the workplace, or just do something different and fun.
Other benefits include invites to special events, MIF volunteer clothing and rucksack, and (dependant on availability) ticket offers and discounts.
MIF reimburses all reasonable, out of pocket expenses relating to travel, subsistence and access requirements for people taking part in our volunteering programme.

The closing date for applications is Thursday 29 April.
For anyone who has talked to our Neighbourhood Organisers you have a special Priority Join Code: NORTHMANCHESTER
After that, we will arrange virtual and in person socially distant meeting days, where you can meet current MIF volunteers and ask any questions that you want of them and the Volunteering Team.
Confirmation of places will begin in April/May and will be subject to the changing COVID-19 situation.

Have you considered retraining in Social Care?

An exciting opportunity to complete a 12 week programme to RETRAIN in Social Care is being delivered by MAES. For just a few of the benefits of completing the course and information, see the attached pictures.

Over 100 mentors available to help students and recent graduates

Are you a student or recent graduate? Graduate Mentor is a platform that offers free, unlimited, one to-one mentoring sessions over video calls. Students or recent graduates can choose from over 100 inspiring mentors. These include: business leaders, senior graduate recruiters, professional coaches, career counsellors, industry experts and university alumni. Graduate mentors work for lots of different organisations such as Facebook, Coca-cola, Mastercard and Ordnance Survey. Sonder Radio Course – “Let’s get Digital”

Sonder Radio is delivering a 2 week long online project ‘Let’s Get Digital’ – for 50+ residents of Manchester who are not currently in employment, in partnership with Manchester Adult Education Service.
The programme includes an introduction to radio, interviews, production and creative writing with a focus on confidence building and team work. The group will produce and present a live radio show together on the Friday to an invited audience.
It’s completely free to attend and we will provide laptops and data if this is a barrier. If you have attended one of our face to face courses in the past, you are still very welcome to join us again for a refresh and/or to learn more.

Course Weeks – 15th March until the 26th March

National Careers Service to host a Virtual Careers Fair on 27th and 28th January

The National Careers Service are hosting a Virtual Careers Fair next week.
On Wednesday 27th they have a number of national employers who will be delivering live sessions about how to get into a range of different career paths. Customers can sign up for the live sessions via Eventbrite here: http://nationalcareersservicevcf.eventbrite.com
