Volunteering @ Yes – Koffi

We routinely support a range of people in volunteering and placement opportunities.  Whether people want to develop work skills and confidence or simply give something back to the local community.

Koffi Avokandoto joined the team for 13 weeks until March 28th mainly to improve his English in a rewarding setting.

Koffi (2nd left with members of the Yes team)  asked about his best moments said:

‘…meeting the staff team on the first day I knew it would be great to be around these people and I learned a lot…’”

From apprentices to permanent employees

Apprenticeships are a great way of starting a new career or getting back into work.

To celebrate National Apprenticeship Week, here’s a short film about four people we helped to become apprentices at Northwards Housing. All four have now gone on to permanent jobs with the company! Watch to find out what difference the experience has made to their lives…

Good stories wanted – yes client group supports film maker

The last Yes client group meeting of 2018 on December 14th welcomed two interesting guests pictured with some of the customers who attended.

Jordan Beaux (second from right back row) was on a 13 week placement with us and summarised his work with volunteer Sophie Anderton carrying out our annual customer survey. As with previous years satisfaction ratings were in excess of 9 out of 10. The client group were able to verify other facts and figures from their own experience as well as asking some questions, making some comments and congratulating the dream team of Sophie and Jordan on a job well done!

Jordan returned to his native France on December 21st whilst Sophie is currently in an administrative role with a local housing organisation – bon voyage and/or bon chance both!

Gareth (bottom right) a student at Manchester Metropolitan University talked about making a documentary film based on some inspiring and interesting stories from Yes customers. So if you want to step forward to help Gareth with this and have a good story to tell let us know via or call in to a Yes centre and we’ll put you in touch’
