Description
Location: Flexible within Greater Manchester
Our Activity Mentors support disabled people to participate in activities of their choice, building confidence and tackling social isolation. With your support, people in your community can overcome the barriers preventing them from pursuing a fulfilling life. Please find attached a more detailed description of the Activity Mentor role, we hope this sounds like a good fit for you!
As an Activity Mentor, you will gain experience of working with disabled people. We will offer you supervision, support, training and skills which can really enhance your CV. We will cover your travel expenses and can offer further incentives if you stay with us long-term.
To ensure this is a worthwhile experience for you and you are able to make a valuable contribution to our work, we do expect our volunteers to share and promote our values and to make a serious time commitment. Wherever possible, we would expect a weekly commitment, but we will work around the days and hours when you are available. We will match you up with a person in your area and you will get to know them, support and encourage them to engage with their hobbies and interests. Since the aim of the project is to increase our clients' independence, you are likely to be working with one person for about twelve weeks, after which, if you wish to continue, you can be matched-up with a new person.
Hours of work: Flexible
Closing date for application: on going.
