Community Led Initiatives was launched by ex-offenders in 2013 with the mission to transform the lives of others through the power of quality peer mentoring. Now, we support a wide range of people – from those affected by substance misuse and offending to people suffering from Mental Health Issues in the Homeless community- by building supportive, peer-led recovery communities. We work alongside the Probation Services and Shelter as well as other partner organisations.We offer work experience for volunteer mentors (18+) working alongside people with multiple complex needs which includes homelessness, offending, substance misuse and mental health.
- Helping people navigate the housing and benefits system.
- Supporting people to attend health and well-being appointments.
- Walking alongside someone, encouraging people to engage with services, introducing someone to new social activities and networking and helping someone build lasting relationships.
We require people who are:
- Dedicated to helping people change
You will be required to commit to a minimum of 4hrs a week for 9 months supporting vulnerable people to reintegrate back into society. This type of support work is unique, varied and rewarding as you will be able to support someone living their daily lives in the community and see them progress. Professional experience can also be gained in this sector which will be supported by CLI and other professionals from The Probation Service and Shelter. Access to job opportunities as well as much ongoing training provided.
